Thomas Pynchon.

Little, Brown: 1990. First edition. Hardcover in a jacket. Octavo. Slight edge wear along the top and bottom of the jacket. One bump along the bottom of the boards. Slight fading on the bottom of the boards as well. Page 29 has a fold. 385 pages. Near fine.

Holed up somewhere in the Santa Cruz mountains, brain-fried ex-radical Zoyd Wheeler finds himself and his daughter hunted by Brock Vond, a military ops man who rode the rise of late '80s corporate dominance to his own form of shadowy power. Pynchon's kaleidoscope of U.S. life includes Godzilla, tow trucks, documentary film making, campus college takeovers, feminist ninjas, and remains as fun as fiction can get. The first edition is now a prize because the Oscar-winning zeitgeist film One Battle After Another is based on the novel

“He still smelled, however, like the far end of a men's toiletries section in a drugstore, and his haircut had been performed by someone who must have been trying to give up smoking.”
