Hanuman: 1994. Second impression. Number 20 in the series. Soft cover in a dust jacket. Unclipped jacket has mild edge wear and a slight ripple on its top. 125 pages. Book is near fine, jacket is on the upper end of very good. 
 
Beckmann thought and wrote about culture and ideas with the same intensity with which he painted. Now he turns the powerful beam onto himself. 
 
"A most difficult thing, this game called sin - lots of fun, but whoever plays, does so at his own risk. I believe it's only really amusing for those who have a conscience - at least there's some sort of sensation - but if one doesn't have a conscience - well then there's no sin - probably just boredom. Always the eternal question: the soul as autonomous affair or not. It seems to me to tend toward having some kind of independent existence. Oh, well."
