Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Photographs by Michael Kenna.

San Francisco: Arion Press, 1985. Octavo. Charcoal cloth with paw print graphics in a matching cloth slipcase with eerie printed pastedowns covering both sides, additional pastedown with title on the spine.  Printed under the direction of Andrew Hoyem, the type is three varieties of Baskerville, the paper is Monadnock Dulcet, photographs are offset lithos, bound by the equally renown Schuberth Bindery. 201 pages. Limited edition, one of 400 copies signed by the photographer. Near fine.

The sixteenth book of the legendary Arion Press, a genius pairing of Kenna's desolate, evocative photos and the classic Sherlock Holmes tale of horror and intrigue in the British countryside.

“The world is full of obvious things which nobody by any chance ever observes.”
