Surrealism
Julien Levy.
Black Sun Press, 1936. Small quarto. First edition, limited to 1500 copies. Inscribed by the author on the first free end paper. Pictorial boards with a bump to the bottom edge of the front board. Mild rubbing along the bottom edges of the boards. Foxing to the end papers and top edge of the text block. Unclipped jacket has soiling to the covers and a tiny chip missing from the foot of the spine but remains handsome. Especially scarce with the signature. Very good.
“. . . unlike so many other ‘isms’ surrealism is evidently not a deadend, it is not static, but is a dynamic and expansive point of view. Just as surrealism could invite the genius of Picasso so it may still invite the new generation of poets and painters."
